Toothless is a gentle, loyal boy who just wants to be by your side. He’s potty trained and knows basic commands. He arrived to us having no crate experience and fortunately he is so well-mannered that he is perfectly fine free-roaming when left alone and isn’t destructive.
And yes Toothless has a full mouth of teeth! We wondered the same thing when we were asked to take him. Turns out he was named after the Dragon in How To Train Your Dragon!
He’s a dream on the leash, walking calmly at a slow pace in heel position without pulling. He’s not much of a barker at all, but he’ll occasionally chime in if his foster siblings start up and otherwise stays quiet. Toys don’t interest him much, but he does enjoy chewing on bones and lounging with his people.
New people and dogs can make him nervous at first, and he may give a little growl (often while wagging his tail) while he figures things out. With just a bit of patience, he warms up quickly and shows what a sweetheart he truly is. He gets along with other dogs, and while he doesn’t play much with them, he coexists peacefully. Toothless has also lived with cats successfully, he may give chase if an unfamiliar cat runs, but he has never harmed a cat.
More than anything, Toothless loves people. He’s happiest being near his humans, following them from room to room, or snuggled on the couch. He enjoys walks but is also content doing his business in the yard and relaxing outside. His foster family says he is well-behaved, a total delight, and loves nothing more than curling up in bed with them or on the couch for snuggles.
Toothless is even wonderful with children but it will be important they are gentle and respectful of his space when he’s feeling shy at first intro. If children he doesn't know are running at him or extremely loud, he will get nervous and may cower/whine/possibly growl but has never shown any aggression. He just needs slow intros. When he is feeling overwhelmed he will try to remove himself from the area. He has loved his foster family's young grandson since day 1 because proper intros were done.
If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate, and faithful shadow who will be your constant companion, Toothless may be the perfect match.
