Scarlett (now Maisie)
Scarlett (now Maisie)

From Freedom Ride to Adoption - sweet Scarlett is home!

We could not be happier for Scarlett - now Maisie - and her amazing foster home turned permanent home! We absolutely love a good foster-success story! heart

Her foster mom - a long-time foster - realized the stars aligned and brought her the perfect dog for her home, and Maisie was there to stay wink

We think Maisie totally charmed the socks off her Mom with her satellite ears ( lol ). Congratulations to this amazing pair!

Happy Furevers Scarlett, now Maisie! heart

Sugar
Sugar

Sugar is our miracle and we couldn’t be happier to announce she has officially been adopted and is now sisters with HVR alumni Callie.

Many months ago we received a call about a litter of puppies under an abandoned house. Someone who feeds feral cats had been keeping an eye on them and all of a sudden the mom disappeared for several days and the puppies were coming out screaming and hungry.  We brought the puppies into rescue but kept looking for mom to no avail.

A few days later we were at the shelter for an unrelated dog and as we walked the kennels we saw mom!!  She was full of milk and based on pictures from the cat feeder we knew it was her!!  No way was mom staying in a shelter while we had puppies!  We had to wait a couple days for her stray hold and then she came to HVR.

Sugar loved EVERY human from the moment she arrived but was not eating and was very sick.  After a vet visit she went into emergency surgery for a blockage.   This was extra risky because our sweet Sugar was also positive for heart worms.  Although it was a risk, without emergency surgery she would not have survived.

She pulled through like a champ!  After healing,  her amazing foster brought her to a fundraising event and Sugar walked right in and HUGGED a past adopter.  It was love at first sight.  She literally chose her humans with that hug (photo included).  She moved to her new home with her foster to adopt moms who saw her through months of heartworm treatment.

Now that our miracle Sugar is officially heartworm free, she is officially adopted and living her best life!

We love you Sugar! heart
